The show takes a look at the reign of Edward II between 1307 and 1327. During this time, the devastated king ended up murdering his best friend. Dan explores the rumour of Charles been a homosexual and sees what it was that turned him against his queen, Isabella of France. He explores Charles obsessions with his noblemen and how it blurred his vision for the country. There is also a look at how the court turned against one of his noblemen, called Gaveston, leading to his death. The show ends by exploring what it was that killed the king.
