There's cause for joy in the village as everyone prepares for Nick and Teresa's wedding. In the face of Marek's impending departure, Pat has a big decision to make, but Bob has one last trick up his sleeve to thwart her plans. Whilst Frances fights to clear her name after the closure of the factory, Alison continues to wrestle with her conscience. Meanwhile, a chance encounter with Noah on the street leads Joyce to do some investigating of her own. Even as the allies cheer for victory in the Battle of Britain, there's one more twist of fate in store for the citizens of Great Paxford.

    Home Fires is noticeably cheesy in parts (feel free to enhance your fun by supplying arch commentary to the dialogue), but it’s also easily absorbing. Also, for those paying close attention, the series is a contextually and satisfyingly feminist take on war.
